For 18 years, Elk Mountain stood as a recognizable landmark along IH-10 in Seguin. Last week, it was dismantled after we lost our lease—but not without leaving a legacy. The good news? We’ve relocated just a mile away to 971 Schriewer St, Seguin, TX
Originally built as a temporary structure, the rock feature exceeded all expectations. With no maintenance since 2007, it remained crack-free and barely faded, even surviving Hurricane Harvey in 2017, which destroyed a wooden structure on the property.
Its construction was simple yet effective:
limestone rock panels welded to pallet racks and bolted to a concrete foundation—a low-cost solution that held up remarkably well. A more engineered approach would have required deeper footings and heavy-duty structural steel, making it far more expensive but allowing for even larger structures.
The techniques developed for Elk Mountain later evolved into portable steel frames for out-of-state projects, including Showboat and Cannon Waterparks. Though the original rock formation is gone, its impact continues in the work we do today.
Stay tuned as we settle into our new location—bigger things are ahead!
